Chocolate Covered Strawberry Yogurt Bites

These frozen chocolate covered strawberry yogurt bites are about to become your favorite summer treat! Make a batch and keep them in the freezer this summer. Then pull them out when you need a pick-me-up before you start dinner.

These are so fun to make and would work perfectly to serve at a bridal or baby shower too. After several hours of freezing, they should be able to sit at room temperature for 1 hour just fine. You do want them to sit at room temp for at least 30 minutes before serving, otherwise they will be too frozen to eat.

For this recipe, I like to use Enjoy Life semi-sweet chocolate chips. I like how these taste closer to a dark chocolate without having to use dark chocolate. Some people don’t love dark chocolate like I do, so this is a little lighter flavor. These chocolate chips also melt really well and coat the frozen yogurt bites quickly and then harden quickly too. It’s a win-win. These are also free of many allergies like gluten and dairy. If you are using dairy free yogurt, these chocolate chips make the whole dessert dairy and gluten free.

Chocolate with fruit/yogurt inside will “sweat” as it warms up. So feel free to dabb it with a paper towel before serving too. You could also let them thaw with paper towels wrapped around them, then move them to your serving dish right before time to eat. Just a couple options.

  • 2 small bowels
  • spatula, fork, etc
  • parchment paper
  • small baking sheet

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 C strawberries, diced into very small chunks I don't measure exactly, just dice and add yogurt as necessary
  • 8 oz vanilla yogurt you can use dairy free, greek, or whatever you like; I used Activia
  • 1 pkg enjoy life semi-sweet chocolate chips I would start with 1/2 bag melted, and melt more as you need it

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, place diced strawberries and yogurt. Mix well.
  • Place your silicone mold on a small baking sheet so that it will hold its shape.
  • Using a spoon, carefully fill each half dome with the strawberry yogurt mixture.

  • Keep the strawberry/yogurt mixture in the fridge until you are ready to fill the mold again. This recipe will yield about 18 bites.
  • When your freeze time is almost up, melt you chocolate chips in the. microwave on the melt chocolate setting.
  • Place each frozen yogurt bite into the bowl of chocolate one at a time. Use a fork to help coat the bite and then with the fork underneath, tap gently to let excess chocolate drip off.
  • The chocolate will harden quickly because the bites are frozen. Place the bites on a piece of parchment paper on the counter to finish hardening. When you are done with your first batch, keep them stored in a freezer safe bag or container as you begin the second batch.

Chocolate Covered Strawberry Yogurt Bites just might be your new favorite “mom” treat. You know what I mean right? The treats you buy just for you and don’t want your kids to know where you keep them? I could eat these every day. If you don’t want to wait for it to thaw, pop these in the microwave for 12 seconds, and you are good to go!

Have some melted chocolate left over after making these? Well, grab some pretzels and make light sabers…or you can call them whatever you want. But these are also a treat we like to keep stocked in our freezer.

You can always use any silicone shaped mold you have. Get creative! Kids love helping with this dessert too.

PS I used Activia vanilla yogurt for this recipe.
